Bhagti lokin ajei na samjhe rab nun pana bhagti ey;
Chhad ke sare veham bhulekhe guru rijhana bhagti ey. Ik nun man na ik nun takna ik nun pana bhagti ey; Baki sare karam chhorh eh karam kamana bhagti ey. Beranga ey beroopa ey bani jo farmaya ey; Kahe avtar main hoo-ba-hoo hi rame ram nun paya ey. |

People have not yet understood what makes 'devotion' (Bhakti), to realize God is 'devotion';
Leaving aside all doubts and superstitions, to please the True Master, is 'devotion'. To believe One, to behold One, to realize One, is 'devotion'; Leaving aside all other rites and rituals, to perform only this act (mentioned above), is 'devotion'. God is colorless, shapeless, as mentioned in the holy scriptures; Avtar says, this is exactly as I have found the all-pervading God to be. |
Meaning
People have many myths about devotion of God. This verse sheds those myths. Devotion is to realize God. Devotion is to please the True Master, leaving aside all doubts and superstitions. To believe in One, to behold One, to realize One, is 'devotion'. Devotion is to leave aside all other rites and rituals and performing the things just mentioned above. God is colorless, shapeless, as mentioned in the holy scriptures. Baba Avtar Singh ji says this is exactly as I have found the all-pervading God to be.
